Multiple Boards, One Project: Filtered Kanban Views for Sprint & Group Tasks

Every Decuga project can now have as many named Kanban boards as you need - each with its own filters, sprint scope, and hidden sections. Here is how filtered board views work and why they beat one board for everything.

One board was never going to fit every workflow

A single Kanban board works fine until your project has more than a handful of people on it. Then everyone wants a different lens on the same work: the frontend engineer wants to see only frontend sections, the team lead wants everything overdue across every sprint, and the person triaging support-linked bugs wants only tasks tied to a specific customer's tickets. Before, you got one board and a search box - every different view meant re-typing the same filters from scratch, every time you opened the tab.

What's new: named boards, each with its own scope and filters

Every project's Group Tasks and Sprint Tasks tabs now support multiple named boards - think "Sprint 12", "Backlog", "My Tasks", or "Frontend" - switchable from a board tab bar at the top, the same way you'd switch tabs in a spreadsheet. Create, rename, reorder, or delete boards from that switcher. The same set of boards is shared between the Group Tasks and Sprint Tasks tabs, since both are just different arrangements of the same underlying work.

  • ✓Scope a board to one sprint so it always shows that sprint's plan, even after a different sprint becomes active
  • ✓Hide specific sections on a board - a "Frontend" board can hide backend-only sections without touching the real section list
  • ✓Reorder boards to put the one you use most first
  • ✓Every project starts with one default board, so nothing changes until you decide to add more

A board is a saved view, not a separate task list

This is the part worth getting right: a board doesn't hold its own tasks. It's a filtered lens over the project's shared tasks and sections. Switching boards never moves, copies, or duplicates a task - it just changes what you see and how it's arranged. That also means a task can legitimately show up on more than one board if it matches more than one board's filters. Boards are overlapping views, not exclusive buckets.

Not to be confused with Decuga's collaborative whiteboards (freeform Excalidraw canvases for sketching and retros) - board views are filtered Kanban lenses over your actual tasks, a different feature entirely, even though both happen to be called "boards".

Filter by whatever actually matters to you

Each board carries its own filter criteria on top of its section/sprint scope, so two boards over the exact same tasks can look completely different:

FilterWhat it narrows down
AssigneeOnly tasks assigned to you, or to specific teammates
TagsOnly tasks carrying one or more chosen tags
Priority / Statuse.g. only High/Urgent, or only In Progress
Due dateShorthands like Overdue or This Week - no manual date math
Linked Service Desk ticketsOnly tasks linked to tickets from a specific reporter or company
Linked roadmap itemsOnly tasks tied to roadmap items in a chosen quarter

A quick example

Say a support-heavy project wants a board that only shows engineering work tied to one enterprise customer's open tickets. Create a board named after the account, filter by "linked ticket company", and it's done - every task connected to that customer's Service Desk activity shows up automatically as new tickets get linked, no manual curation. Meanwhile the default board keeps showing everything, untouched.

Where to find it

Open any project's Group Tasks or Sprint Tasks tab - the board switcher sits right at the top, next to the existing List/Board toggle.

Open the Tasks tab

Group Tasks or Sprint Tasks - both share the same board switcher.

Click "+ New board"

Give it a name - you can rename it later.

Set its scope

Optionally lock it to one sprint and hide sections you don't need.

Add filters

Assignee, tags, priority, status, due date, or linked tickets/roadmap items.

Multiple board views are available on every plan - Free, Starter, Pro, and Business.
