Real-Time Collaborative Whiteboards Are Now in Decuga

Decuga now includes a full collaborative whiteboard — think Miro, inside your project. Sketch flows, run retros, map architectures, and brainstorm in real time with your team without leaving your PM workspace.

Why we built a whiteboard inside Decuga

Product teams already have more tabs open than they need. You're in Decuga for your PRDs and sprint board, then you hop to Miro or FigJam to sketch a flow, share a link in Slack, and lose context three times before the meeting ends. We built a real-time collaborative whiteboard directly inside every Decuga project so the sketch lives next to the sprint task that inspired it — no link-sharing, no extra subscription.

What you can do on the canvas

The whiteboard is powered by Excalidraw — the same open canvas trusted by millions of developers and designers. Every tool you'd expect is available: freehand drawing, shapes, text, arrows, sticky notes, image uploads, and a full element library with pre-built icons and diagrams. The canvas is infinite, zoomable, and fully keyboard-accessible.

  • Freehand pen, shapes, arrows, and text — all on an infinite canvas
  • Sticky notes for brainstorming and retros — two sticky note libraries pre-loaded
  • Full element library with 1 000+ icons across networking, UX, software, HR, and more
  • Image upload for dropping in screenshots, logos, and reference assets
  • Keyboard shortcuts for every tool so power users never touch the mouse

Real-time collaboration that actually works

Every whiteboard in Decuga is a live multiplayer room. When two teammates open the same board, changes appear on each other's canvas within a second — no reload required. A connection status pill in the header shows whether you're live, connecting, or offline. All changes are persisted server-side so nothing is lost if someone closes their tab mid-session.

Multiple boards per project

Each Decuga project can have as many whiteboards as you need. Create one per sprint, one per epic, or one per meeting. Boards are listed in a thumbnail grid with the last-modified date, so you can find the right one instantly. Rename or delete boards from the grid — all without touching the sprint board or document tabs.

Where to find the whiteboard

Open any project, click the Whiteboard tab in the project sidebar, and hit "New board". Boards load in the same tab — no pop-up, no new window. The tab sits alongside Sprint Tasks, Backlog, AI Documents, and Service Desk, so every artifact for a feature lives in one project.

The whiteboard tab is available on all plans — Free, Starter, Pro, and Business. Real-time collaboration requires all teammates to be logged-in project members.

How it fits into a product workflow

A typical workflow: the product manager opens a whiteboard at the start of sprint planning, sketches the user flow, and places sticky notes for open questions. Designers add wireframe notes. Engineers drop in an architecture sketch. By the end of the session, the board is a living artifact that informs the PRD the PM generates next — all inside the same project. No context switch, no re-explaining to a separate tool.

More whiteboard features: Command Palette, direct links, Slack, and task linking

Since the initial launch, the whiteboard has gained four more capabilities that make it a first-class citizen of the Decuga workflow.

  • Command Palette (⌘K): every whiteboard appears in the command palette alongside tasks — search by name and jump directly to it.
  • Direct URLs: each open board syncs a shareable link into the browser address bar — copy it and send it to a teammate to land them straight in that board.
  • Slack commands: create, list, and delete whiteboards with plain-English messages in your connected Slack workspace — the bot replies with a clickable link to the board.
  • Task linking: open any task detail panel and link one or more whiteboards to it — so the architecture sketch, retro board, or user flow lives alongside the sprint task it informed.

To share a specific board: open it, click "Copy link" in the header, and paste anywhere. The recipient lands directly in that board — no navigation needed.
