Jump to Any Whiteboard Instantly: Command Palette and Direct URL Sharing

Decuga whiteboards now appear in the Command Palette alongside tasks, and every open board generates a shareable direct link — so you can navigate and share boards without ever hunting through the sidebar.

The problem: finding boards slowed you down

When you have multiple whiteboards per project — a retro board, an architecture sketch, a campaign map — finding the right one meant navigating to the Whiteboard tab, scanning the grid, and clicking in. If someone sent you a link, there was no way to land directly in a specific board. Both problems are now solved.

Whiteboards in the Command Palette

Press ⌘K (or Ctrl+K on Windows) from anywhere in your project and start typing. The Command Palette now surfaces whiteboards alongside tasks — each board appears with its name and last-modified date. Arrow keys to navigate, Enter to open. You land directly in that board, no sidebar visit required.

Direct URLs for every board

When you open a whiteboard, the browser address bar updates with a unique URL containing the board ID — something like ?section=pm&tab=whiteboard&wbId=abc123. That URL is stable and shareable. Copy it, paste it in Slack, email it, or bookmark it. Anyone with project access who opens the link lands directly in that board, with no extra navigation.

The "Copy link" button in the whiteboard header copies the direct URL to your clipboard and shows a confirmation tick. No need to copy from the address bar manually.

Back button keeps the URL tidy

When you press "← All boards" to return to the board list, the wbId parameter is automatically removed from the URL. This means the URL always reflects exactly where you are — the board list URL opens the list, a board URL opens that board.

Opening a direct link mid-session

If you receive a direct link to a whiteboard while you already have the project open in another tab, opening the link in the same tab navigates directly into the board — the board list is skipped entirely. The URL acts as the single source of truth for which board is displayed.

Practical use cases

A few ways these features change everyday workflow:

  • Send a link to a specific architecture diagram in Slack — the engineer opens exactly that board.
  • Bookmark the sprint retro board for the current sprint — reopen it between sessions with a single click.
  • Use ⌘K to switch between boards mid-meeting without losing your place in the conversation.
  • Link to a whiteboard in a Notion page, email, or PR description — no "go to Decuga > Project > Whiteboard tab > find the board" instructions needed.
