From generating subtasks in one click to picking the right sprint tasks based on your team velocity — here is how Decuga's AI features help product teams plan and execute faster.
Product teams have always been pressed for time. Requirements need writing, sprints need planning, meeting notes need turning into action items, and duplicate tasks pile up when no one catches them early. AI does not replace the judgment of a product manager or engineer — but it removes the low-value, high-friction steps that slow teams down. Decuga embeds AI directly into the project management workflow so that the moments where AI can help — generating subtasks, planning a sprint, extracting action items — happen without leaving your workspace.
When you create or view a task, click the AI sparkle button to generate subtasks automatically. The AI analyses the task title and description to suggest 3–7 concrete, independently completable subtasks with story point estimates. This works best for feature-level tasks: paste a feature title like "Add OAuth2 login" and the AI returns subtasks covering database schema, API endpoint, frontend form, error handling, and tests — each with a suggested story point estimate. Review the suggestions, accept the ones that fit, and discard any that do not apply. Available on Pro and above.
Pro tip
Write a brief description on the parent task before running the breakdown — the AI uses it to generate more specific and accurate subtasks rather than generic ones.
Inside an active or planning sprint, click "AI Plan Sprint" to let the AI suggest which backlog tasks to pull in. It considers your team's predicted velocity (based on trailing sprint averages), task priorities, and your sprint goal to recommend the optimal task mix for the sprint. Instead of manually eyeballing the backlog and guessing at capacity, you get a data-informed starting point that you can accept, adjust, or override. Available on Business plan.
Set a sprint goal
Give the AI context by writing a clear sprint goal before running the planner.
Run AI Plan Sprint
The AI reads your velocity history, backlog priorities, and goal to suggest a task selection.
Review and adjust
Accept the suggestions, swap in different tasks, or override the selection entirely — the AI gives you a starting point, not a final answer.
Open the Command Palette (Cmd+K) and type "meeting notes" or click the Meeting Notes action. Paste your raw meeting transcript or bullet-point notes. Decuga extracts action items as draft tasks — each with a title and, where inferrable from context, an assignee and priority. Review the draft tasks, assign them to the right people, and create them in one click. What used to be a 20-minute manual process of reading through meeting notes and writing tasks one by one takes under two minutes. Available on Pro and above.
As you type a new task title in the Backlog or Board, Decuga automatically checks for similar existing tasks using semantic similarity — not just exact text matches. If potential duplicates are found, a warning appears below the input field with links to the existing tasks. Accept the suggestion to open the existing task and add context to it, or ignore the warning to proceed with creating the new task. Duplicate detection runs on all tiers, including Free and Starter, because preventing duplicate work benefits every team regardless of plan.
How it works
Duplicate detection compares the new task title against existing tasks using similarity scoring. It flags matches above a confidence threshold — so "Add login page" and "Create login screen" would surface as potential duplicates even though the exact words differ.
AI Task Breakdown, Meeting Notes to Tasks, and sprint analytics are available on the Pro plan ($28/month flat for up to 20 members). AI Sprint Planner is on the Business plan ($57/month flat for up to 50 members). Duplicate Detection is available on all plans. Every paid plan includes a 30-day free trial with no credit card required — enough time to run a full sprint with AI assistance and see the difference.
